ITINERARY (subject to change)
Meeting at the London Waterloo station at 8:00 am and travelling to Portsmouth Hbr together (we aim to take the 09:00 am train). Then we will catch the ferry to Ryde Pier and another train from there to Sandown.
After lunch and check-in the hotel, we will visit the Dinosaur Isle and we will have a dinosaur hunting walk, exploring the Yaverland beach.
We will spend the evening at one of the local restaurants with tasty dinner and drinks.
Dinosaur Isle Museum
An introductory exhibition gallery covers the geology and fossils of the Island in a walk back through time, taking the visitor from the Ice Age of the recent past, back to the Cretaceous period when dinosaurs lived. This leads to the large dinosaur gallery, which has exciting displays including real fossils, skeletal re-constructions, life-sized fleshed re-constructions and two animatronic dinosaurs.
Dinosaur Isle is an all-year-round facility, combining entertainment, education and enjoyment. Displays use clever lighting, artwork, sound, smells and animatronic technology to create an exciting experience. As well as the displays, there is a working laboratory on view, and a room set aside for learning sessions. They are located next to the sandy beach at Sandown and a few minutes walk from our hotel.
We are going to visit Godshill Model Village after the breakfast. Then spend some time chilling out at the beach, having lunch or doing shopping.
In the evening we will have a beautiful beach walk (around 3 miles) with stop for drinks in the beach café and visit the Shanklin Chine.
After breakfast and check out we will have a circular walk (around 4 miles) at Alverstone National Reserve. This walk offer brilliant opportunities to view red squirrels and many river species including kingfishers. If you are extremely lucky you might spy the very shy water voles.
After having lunch and enjoying a bit more beautiful views we will travel back to London.
