Lose yourself in the labyrinth of the mysterious rock city, witness splendid views of majestic castles and explore forests that are so magical, they’ll make you feel like you’re in a Lord of The Rings film. There is no limit to the beauty and wonder here – Bohemian Paradise is proudly listed on the list of UNESCO Geoparks and is home to a large number of historical sites. You’ll also sample some of the finest Czech beer and celebrate the nightlife in the capital, Prague.
The hike through Bohemian Paradise will wind you through castles, sandstone pillars and rocks shaped by nature over a number of years. See the ruins of Trosky castle and learn why people were afraid of the mysterious place for so long. You’ll probably want to pause with wonder as you walk around the Czech Grand Canyon. It’s 800 metres long, 200 metres wide and more than 80 metres deep, decorated with a deep blue lake. Peaceful and unique, you’ll also visit a monastery built at the bottom of a 100-metre cliff – wait until you see the incredible view from the top.

Hiking in Bohemian Paradise
A hike in “the rock city” of the Czech paradise (Cesky Raj in Czech), a Unesco world heritage site 100 km from Prague.
The characteristic elements of the Bohemian Paradise are beautiful castles and sandstone rock pillars. Many of them have been shaped by wind, water, frost, erosion, and people into unique and curious shapes in many cases.
We will walk around, under and over many of the 365 sandstone pillars. We will discover rock gates, niches, caves and cavities, balancing boulders and rock mushrooms. We will walk through “Lord of the Rings” like forests.
A hike full of fun due to the uniqueness and peculiarity of the trek.

Trosky ruins is a majestic dominant of Český ráj. Rich history of Trosky is full of empty spaces, unbelievable stories and legends. For a short while people were afraid of Trosky very much, because famous robbers Kryštov and Švejkar used the castle as their base.
Big Karlstejn Adventure-Walking and Relaxing
We will travel by van from one location to another (no bike). We will spend all day out in the country side, from morning to evening.
1st stop: Prokopske Valley. We will walk in a natural park famous for its cliffs and views on Prague and of course, we will enjoy both. We choose for you a loop that includes all the nicest things that the park as to offer. Bring your camera!The walk is around 5,5 km on gravel and natural trails with up and down. You can find everything here: stunning cliffs, a little picturesque lake, views over Prague, forests, no tourists
2nd stop: The forest centre. When a local wild animal has a problem it is taken to the forest centre just outside Prague where veterinary can take care of it. When is healed, if the vets think it could not survive in the wild, they keep it in the centre which is located in the middle of the forest in a nice and silent place. 3rd stop: The Czech Grand Canyon
This former quarry is now a picturesque gorge that hides a sunken lake. It is 800 metres long, 200 metres wide and 80 to 100 metres deep and the lake at the bottom is 18-metre deep. It is a very popular site among locals who are looking to get a perfect glimpse of the deep blue waters. The walk is around 2,2 km on gravel and natural trails. It is a flat walk.
If you don’t want to walk this section you can stay at the main lookout which is located very close to the car and wait for the group to come back while taking some great picture.
4th stop: Karlstejn castle. Karlstejn is an amazing large gothic castle in perfect conditions, built upon a promontory, wanted by Charles IV in 1348. We will spend 2,5 hours in the area and you have the following options:
a– Skip the walk and enjoy the many cafes and restaurants of the castle area.
b– Go for the 1 hour guided tour of the castle although we don’t recommend visiting the interior as its beauty is in the external part. You can anyway enter the castle walls for free and it is very nice.
c– Walk to the best possible viewpoint of the castle. Then go down to the castle area and have food and enter the castle walls. This hike is around 2,7 km on natural trails with some ups and downs.
5th stop: The monastery & the rock. Svaty Jan pod Skalou in Czech means St. John under the Rock. It is a monastery built at the base of a 100m sheer cliff. The location is peaceful and bucolic. Some people consider it one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the country.
We will climb the rock and enjoy the great panorama on the valley and the monastery below.
The walk to get to the top of the cliff is around 2,3 km but very steep on natural trails. You can avoid this hike and wait at the monastery where there is a restaurant with a terrace.
6th stop: Prague!
From the 5th stop, the monastery, it is just a 30/45 minutes drive back to Prague. After the tour, we will have dinner and enjoy the nightlife along the river, one of the most vibrant places in Prague.
Price structure: Here at CKAC, we know how hard it can be to save money for that dream adventure, so that’s why we offer a deposit scheme on most of our trips. The idea is that you can pay an initial deposit for your chosen event or trip, in order to reserve your spot, but you are still left with the remainder of the payment, to pay at your own convenience, allowing you more time to save.
Easyjet flights for April 2018 are not available yet, however, we are aiming to take the evening flight to Prague that will depart from London around 5pm and evening flight to London, between 8pm and 9pm.
